Does the LCBO deliver? Yes, but probably not the way you're hoping. LCBO.com will ship an order to your door, but it goes by courier, costs $11.95 plus tax, needs a $50 minimum, and usually takes 2–5 business days. The LCBO doesn't run same-day home delivery itself.
Same-day LCBO product does exist. It comes through delivery apps like DoorDash, Uber Eats and SkipTheDishes, which send a courier to shop at a nearby LCBO store for you. That works well at 4 PM on a Tuesday. It stops working the moment that store closes, which is 9 PM on most nights and 6 PM on Sundays.
Here's every way to get LCBO beer, wine and spirits delivered in Ontario, what each one costs and how fast it is, and what's left once the LCBO locks its doors.
The short answer
LCBO.com home delivery: yes, but slow. Courier delivery anywhere in Ontario, $11.95 plus tax, $50 minimum order, 2–5 business days (the LCBO says to allow up to two weeks).
Same-day delivery from the LCBO itself: no. LCBO.com's only same-day option is pickup. Order online at least two hours before closing and collect it in store.
Same-day LCBO delivery through apps: yes, in much of Ontario. DoorDash, Uber Eats and SkipTheDishes list LCBO stores. A courier buys your order at the store and brings it over, usually within the hour, with app fees on top.
After the LCBO closes: the apps can't shop there. You can still get beer, wine and cider from licensed grocery and corner stores until 11 PM, but no spirits.
The Beer Store delivers too. Beer only, in select areas, with fees starting at $7.79.
11 PM is the legal wall for every option. Ontario allows alcohol delivery from 9 AM to 11 PM, whoever is doing the delivering.
Option 1: LCBO.com home delivery (the slow one)
This is the LCBO's own delivery service, and it's closer to online shopping than to takeout. You order on LCBO.com, the order ships from a warehouse, and a courier brings it to your address.

What it's good for: planning ahead. A case of wine for a wedding next month, a hard-to-find bottle your local store doesn't carry, a gift you're shipping to someone across the province. LCBO.com also runs occasional free-delivery promotions on selected products, so check before paying the $11.95.
What it's not good for: tonight. Or this weekend, if it's already Thursday. Business days don't include weekends or statutory holidays, so an order placed on a Friday afternoon usually won't move until Monday.
Option 2: Same-day pickup and deliver-to-store (free, but you're driving)
The LCBO's two other online options aren't delivery, but they're worth knowing because they're free.
Same-day pickup. Order on LCBO.com more than two hours before your store closes and it's usually ready the same day. There's no fee. It depends on the store's stock and how busy it is, and not every location takes part.
Deliver to store. The order ships to the LCBO location you choose for free, but it takes 5–14 days. This one is useful when your local store doesn't carry what you want.
Same-day pickup is the fastest way to guarantee a specific bottle at LCBO shelf price. The catch is the same one that sinks every LCBO plan: it runs on store hours. On a Sunday, that two-hour rule means ordering by about 4 PM.
Option 3: LCBO products on DoorDash, Uber Eats and SkipTheDishes
This is what most people mean by "LCBO same-day delivery," and it's the option that causes the most confusion. The LCBO isn't delivering anything.
In December 2022, the LCBO launched a pilot program that let eligible on-demand delivery companies use the LCBO name and logo and get guidance on product selection. The LCBO was clear that it isn't involved in filling the orders. SkipTheDishes was the first app to sign on. LCBO products appeared on Uber Eats in January 2023, and DoorDash launched in August 2023 with a target of more than 300 LCBO stores, covering close to 70% of Ontarians.
Here's how an app order actually works:
- You verify your age in the app. DoorDash, for example, asks you to upload ID before your first alcohol order.
- A courier goes to an LCBO store near you and buys your order off the shelf.
- They bring it to your door, check and scan your ID, and make sure you aren't intoxicated before they hand it over.
What it costs: the item prices, plus some mix of a delivery fee, a service fee, a small-order fee and a tip. App prices don't always match the shelf price either. The number to compare is the checkout total, not the price on the bottle.
Where it works: most of the larger cities, depending on which stores the app covers near your address. Enter your address in the app to check before you plan around it.
The catch: app delivery from the LCBO ends when the LCBO does
Because an app courier has to walk into an LCBO and buy your bottle, the app can only sell you LCBO products while that store is open. In practice the menu disappears a little before closing, because someone still has to pick the order.
That puts a hard ceiling on "same-day LCBO delivery":
- Monday to Saturday: most LCBO stores close at 9 PM. A few larger urban stores stay open until 10 PM.
- Sunday: most stores close at 6 PM.
- Seven statutory holidays: the LCBO is closed all day, so there's nothing for an app to pick up. Full dates are in our LCBO holiday hours calendar.
After that, the same apps switch to licensed grocery and convenience stores, which can sell alcohol until 11 PM. That covers beer, cider, coolers and wine. It doesn't cover spirits: corner stores can't sell vodka, whisky, gin, rum or tequila at any hour, and beer and ready-to-drink cocktails are capped at 7.1% ABV. So the gap in same-day LCBO delivery is specific: spirits, after the LCBO closes. That's Sunday from about 6 PM, every other night from 9 PM, and all day on a holiday. It's also exactly when people run out.
Does the Beer Store deliver?
Yes, in select areas. The Beer Store runs its own home delivery, ordered through thebeerstore.ca or its app:
- Fee: from $7.79, depending on how far you are from the nearest participating store.
- Speed: under two hours in many areas, longer in bad weather or busy periods.
- Coverage: select areas only. Enter your address to check.
- Products: beer. No wine, no spirits.
- At the door: the delivery is done by a licensed delivery service. Bring government ID that matches the credit card used for the order. The driver scans it and takes a signature.

The rules every legal delivery follows
Whoever brings the bottle, the AGCO's rules are the same:
- Delivery hours are 9 AM to 11 PM, seven days a week, holidays included. There's no licence that allows 24/7 alcohol delivery in Ontario. We explain why in How Late Can You Get Alcohol Delivered in Ontario?
- The person who takes the delivery must be 19 or older and show valid government-issued photo ID.
- Nothing gets left at the door. No porch drop-offs and no handing it to a neighbour.
- No delivery to anyone who's intoxicated. The driver is required to walk away from the sale.
If a service offers to leave your order on the porch, doesn't check ID, or promises a bottle of vodka at 1 AM, that's a reason to hang up, not a bargain.
Which one to use, and when
It's Tuesday and you're planning Saturday's party. Use LCBO.com home delivery or deliver-to-store. It's the cheapest way to get a large or specific order, and you have time for the courier. Our party alcohol calculator will tell you how much to order.
It's 5 PM on a weeknight and you want a bottle tonight. Order on an app from an LCBO store, or place a same-day pickup order if you're driving past anyway.
It's Sunday at 7 PM and you're out of rye. The LCBO closed an hour ago, so the apps can't shop there, and no corner store is allowed to sell it. That leaves a licensed delivery service that carries spirits, until 11 PM.
It's Thanksgiving Monday, Christmas Day or another LCBO closure day. Same answer: a corner store for beer and wine, or licensed delivery for anything else, 9 AM to 11 PM.
It's 11:30 PM. Nobody can legally sell or deliver you alcohol until 9 AM. Mixers, ice and snacks aren't restricted, though.

What do I need when an alcohol delivery arrives? Valid government-issued photo ID showing you're 19 or older. The person who ordered, or the adult receiving it, has to be there in person. Drivers can't leave alcohol at the door or with a minor, and they'll refuse anyone who appears intoxicated.
The one thing to take away
The LCBO delivers, but only on the LCBO's schedule. For a planned order, LCBO.com's $11.95 courier service is fine. For tonight, the apps work until the store closes. Once it's past 9 PM, or past 6 PM on a Sunday, or it's a holiday, same-day LCBO delivery is over.
